B.A.B.E.S. started in August of 2000 as a way for Larry to show off the new boat he and his wife, Rhonda, bought to a few of his friends. That boat was a 1989 32 foot Bayliner Flybridge. It was just a simple run up the St.Croix river to the Kinikinik beach for a cigar and a few beers. I don't recal who it was but it was mentioned that next year we should go golfing first and after a few more beverages we came up with the name. |
The first offical "Bad Ass Boys Enjoying Summer" golf tournament was held in 2001 at Hidden Greens Golf Course in Hastings Minnesota. There were only 4 guys but they had enough fun for 12. In 2002 we added a stop at RJ's Tavern in Hastings between Golf and Boating. We had 8 guys this year. In 2003 we made it a "best ball" tournament and had 12 guys. In 2006 we increased the size to 16 guys The golf tournament has been played at Hidden Greens, Emerald Greens, and Bellwood Oaks golf courses.
In 2012 we will increase the number of foresums If we get more guys to sign up
